Wemyss Bay Railway Station

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Wemyss Bay train station on being named 2023 champion of the World Cup of Stations; notes that the competition saw 48 stations compete for the title, with the victor decided by public vote; further notes that Wemyss Bay received 8,400 online votes in the final, beating out competitors, Denmark Hill and Leamington Spa; understands that Wemyss Bay Railway Station is renowned for its spectacular architecture, charming floral displays and picturesque views; considers that the work of groups like Friends of Wemyss Bay Station, along with the staff and local community, have ensured that the station continues to appeal to generation after generation, and believes that its success serves as a reminder of how important it is to invest in rail infrastructure to encourage more people to travel sustainably by train.
