Captain George Moodie’s Pocket Watch Exhibited in Kirkcaldy

That the Parliament notes that a pocket watch once belonging to Cutty Sark captain,George Moodie, is now being publicly exhibited for the first time in 10 yearsat Kirkcaldy Galleries, to commemorate the 100th anniversary of his death;further notes that alongside the timepiece at Kirkcaldy Galleries is a 1979colour screen print by Ivan Polley, and a model of the Cutty Sark made byWilliam Thomson, of Kirkcaldy, in the 1960s; recognises that the Cutty Sarkoriginally sailed between the UK and China to transport tea, but, afterspending only a few years in the tea trade, began transporting wool betweenSydney and London; understands that George Moodie was born in the village ofWest Wemyss, in Fife, and that he oversaw the building of the Cutty Sark in WestDunbartonshire, before captaining the ship for its initial voyages, includingits delivery to London; thanks the charity, OnFife, for bringing the historicitem to Kirkcaldy Galleries for the public to view, and encourages all who areinterested to visit the galleries.
