MG ALBA and the Importance of Gaelic Media

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates MG ALBA on another impactful year for Gaelic media; notes that MG ALBA and its stakeholders will be gathering to celebrate its success on 14 June 2023; understands the importance of Gaelic media, not just to Scotland's Gaelic-speaking communities, but to a wide range of enthusiastic and engaged audiences across Scotland and beyond; believes that MG ALBA and the Gaelic media sector is a major economic, cultural and language catalyst, providing a range of opportunities in the media; wishes all those currently filming the second series of the gripping drama, An Clò Mòr, in the Western Isles a successful run; believes that continued support is needed to ensure that Gaelic media maintains what it sees as its position as a central component of Scotland’s broadcasting ecology, and further believes that MG ALBA must be enabled to secure Gaelic media’s future in the digital domain.
