Celebrating Funding Success in the Strathkelvin and Bearsden Constituency

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates three organisations, based in the Strathkelvin and Bearsden constituency, on securing support through the National Lottery Community Fund in the most recent round of awards; understands that almost £30,000 was received, following successful applications from three local organisations; commends Stitch the Gap CIC, which, after its recent success at the Scottish EDGE Awards, winning an investment of £50,000 in a Dragon’s Den-style competition, the Kirkintilloch-based social enterprise now has a further £10,000 in grant aid to enable it to invest further to provide free sewing classes for young people, to help re-purpose old clothes and stage a fashion show to encourage working to help the environment by upcycling old outfits; applauds New Roots Gardening Club, which secured £7,000 to support its work with neurodiverse gardeners; understands that New Roots Gardening Club holds four gardening sessions weekly at a range of sites, including Twechar and Milngavie; congratulates the ongoing work of Families of Auchinairn Coming Together (FACT), which secured grant aid of £12,300, in encouraging social interaction and wellbeing through crafting classes for local adults and running a warm hub, where people can get free food in a warm space, read books from its mini library and connect with people, and sends its very best wishes and thanks to all who give their time, energy and experience in supporting these groups who, it considers, enhance the lives of constituents in Strathkelvin and Bearsden.
