The motion

That the Parliament acknowledges that Glasgow’s Gallery of Modern Art (GoMA), within the Glasgow Kelvin constituency, is to host a new exhibition by the most famous and celebrated graffiti artist in the world, Banksy; understands that the exhibition, which has been officially authorised by Banksy, will be named Cut and Run: 25 years card labour, and will showcase, for the first time, the stencils that Banksy used to create many of their most iconic works; further understands that Banksy is reported to have said, “I’ve kept these stencils hidden away for years, mindful they could be used as evidence in a charge of criminal damage", but "that moment seems to have passed so now I’m exhibiting them in a gallery as works of art", and that "I’m not sure which is a greater crime”; notes that this exhibition will be staged at GoMA in Glasgow city centre, the main gallery of contemporary art in Scotland’s largest city; further notes that this will be GoMA’s first solo gallery exhibition in 14 years, and looks forward to visiting Banksy’s work within GoMA.
