Cleland Gala Day Receives National Lottery Community Funding
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Cleland Gala Day on receiving £5,000 from the National Lottery Community Fund; understands that the committee will use the funds to ensure that the gala day is more inclusive to the community, and that cost is not an issue, particularly to those struggling financially during the cost of living crisis; further understands that the gala day was revived in 2022, after a 30-year absence; understands that gala days were originally held to mark successful wins for workers’ rights, or simply to raise some cheer in the country’s industrial communities during tough economic times; recognises what it sees as the generosity of the local community and the businesses that have helped ensure the event's success, and thanks all the volunteers for their hard work, dedication and meticulous planning over the last two years in organising this community event.
