Fiona McKenzie Appointed OBE

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Fiona McKenzie, founder of CentreStage, on being appointed an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in His Majesty The King's birthday honours list; understands that she has received this honour in recognition of her services to the community in East Ayrshire; notes that Fiona founded CentreStage, which is based in Kilmarnock and provides opportunities for people of all ages to participate in music, drama and the performing arts; further notes that CentreStage took over the former site of Kilmarnock Academy in 2019, and in the following years has carried out a multimillion pound transformation of the building and grounds to create a unique community facility, providing space for both CentreStage and other community organisations; applauds Fiona for what it sees as her limitless determination to improve the lives of people in Kilmarnock and across East Ayrshire; commends her ceaseless dedication to CentreStage and everyone who walks through its doors; welcomes this latest recognition for her, and CentreStage more widely, and wishes both Fiona and CentreStage continued success in the future.
