Coldstream Museum Honouring D-Day Tactician Opens

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates the Coldstream resident, William Ramsay, on recently opening a museum in the Scottish Borders town in order to honour his late grandfather, Admiral Bertram Ramsay, a courageous naval tactician during the Second World War, who helped to organise and plan the D-Day landings in 1944; understands the significance of Admiral Ramsay’s contributions to the landings; notes that Admiral Ramsay received a knighthood for his actions in commanding the fleet of nearly 7,000 allied naval vessels during Operation Neptune; understands that, due to the admiral’s meticulous planning, nearly one million allied soldiers had landed in France by the end of June, signalling the start of the allied push to victory in Europe, and commends William for his efforts to uphold and protect his late grandfather’s important legacy into the future.
