Greenock Telegraph and Largs and Millport Weekly News Campaigns Recognised at Scottish Press Awards
The motion
That the Parliament understands that the Greenock Telegraph and the Largs and Millport Weekly News were both nominated in Local Campaigns of the Year category at the Scottish Press Awards 2023; notes that the Greenock Telegraph’s campaign, which was a collaboration with actor, Martin Compston, to raise funds for Ardgowan Hospice, was a runner-up, while the Largs and Millport Weekly News’s Alara’s Little Legs campaign was the winner; celebrates that both papers’ campaigns succeeded in their aims to raise the necessary funds to help a well-respected and valued local hospice and to make a difference to a young person’s life and physical health; further celebrates that the Greenock Telegraph and Millport and Largs Weekly News have demonstrated what it sees as the power that a local paper can have in championing a community-based cause, and hopes that they will both continue to put their weight behind other important issues in the future.
