Aberdeen International Airport Introduces Zero Emission Buses

The motion

That the Parliament praises Aberdeen International Airport for introducing two 22-seater zero emission “near-silent” buses that can be charged in a matter of hours, which are to be used around airport terminals and car parks; applauds Aberdeen International Airport for preventing an estimated 30 tCO2e from being emitted by reducing its carbon footprint; understands that “these new state-of-the-art electric vehicles” are important in supporting the airport's continued commitment to creating a more sustainable business, and represents a further reduction in carbon emissions that is supported by the airport’s electricity supply, which is provided via renewable energy; acknowledges that, further to Aberdeen International Airport’s latest commendable green initiative, which complements its previous efforts to transition from conventional to sustainable aviation fuel, the world’s first hydrogen-fuelled double decker buses have been introduced in Aberdeen; commends Aberdeen International Airport for its free drop-off and sustainable travel arrangements, which help to reduce congestion as well as carbon, and further commends AGS Airports, which, as part of its Sustainability Strategy, has ensured that all three of its airports have achieved carbon-neutrality status for the emissions that are under the Group’s control since 2020.
