The motion

That the Parliament recognises that, during Motor Neuron Disease (MND) Awareness Week, the charity, MND Scotland, has announced a historic £2 million investment in the UK’s biggest-ever MND clinical drug trial, MND-SMART; understands that the sum is the largest-ever research investment in the charity’s 42-year history; acknowledges that the trial will also be receiving funding of £500,000 from the MND Association of England, Wales and Northern Ireland, to bring the total investment to £2.5 million; considers that this investment would not be possible without the incredible generosity of MND fundraisers; notes that the trial is taking place at the Euan MacDonald Centre for MND Research, at the University of Edinburgh; understands that this trial will be open to the vast majority of people living with MND across Scotland and the rest of the UK, and hopes that the trial will take the world a step closer to finding a cure for MND.
