Patrick Walker Wins Scottish Teacher of the Year Award at the 21st Annual Scottish Education Awards

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Patrick Walker, principal teacher of geography at Turnbull High School, on winning the Scottish Teacher of the Year award 2023; acknowledges that the annual Scottish Education Awards are organised by the Daily Record, and supported by the Scottish Government; notes that the Scottish Education Awards celebrate the hard work and best practice taking place in Scottish education; believes that Mr Walker's innovative approach in encouraging young people to take an active interest in the environment though sustainability clubs and special events is vital to ensuring a positive future for our planet; notes that the Turnbull High School Geography Department was also recognised at a special Scottish Education Awards, in 2021, to mark COP26, winning an award for Learning for Sustainability - Learning Community, and warmly congratulates Mr Walker, his pupils and Turnbull High School's Geography Department on their success.
