Nayma Sheikh, Sport Award Winner of The Sunday Mail Young Scot Awards 2023

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates East Kilbride’s Nayma Sheikh on winning the Sport Award at The Sunday Mail Young Scot Awards 2023; notes that Nayma, of East Kilbride Cricket Club, who has won multiple player of the year awards and special recognitions for her talents, was also part of the first ever woman’s team to represent Scotland at a world cup, and claimed the overall best economy rate and number of dot balls for her bowling; recognises that the award, in partnership with sportscotland, saw Scott McTominay and Kirsty Muir also nominated; thanks Nayma for her contribution and leadership to aspiring young sports men and women, who, it believes, will undoubtedly look upon this most recent accolade as a testament to what hard work and commitment can achieve, and wishes Nayma the best of luck for many more years of placing East Kilbride and Scotland on the map.
