The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Kelly Sagar on becoming the first Walking Champion as part of the National Walking Month celebrations, led by Scotland’s walking charity, Paths for All; recognises that Kelly is a life-long walking enthusiast who credits his successful management of the lung condition, pulmonary fibrosis, to regular walks with his local health walk group, Wee County Walkers, in Clackmannanshire; highlights what it sees as the benefits of walking, which, it believes, brings physical, mental and social health benefits to walkers, and particularly to those living with long-term health conditions; understands that Kelly became one of the first dedicated volunteer walk leaders at Wee County Walkers after the group was established in 2010; notes that Kelly’s favourite walk is around the scenic Black Devon Wetlands between Alloa and Clackmannan; further notes that Wee County Walkers now runs daily health walks around Clackmannanshire with 40-50 people participating every week; acknowledges that Wee County Walkers is part of Paths for All’s Scottish Health Walk Network, which brings together over 400 organisations and contributes to the delivery of over 870 Health Walks each week across Scotland; encourages everyone to get involved in their local Health Walk, and wishes Kelly all the best for the future.
