European Pipe Band Championships

The motion

That the Parliament notes the success of the European Pipe Band Championships, which were held on 24 June 2023 at Duthie Park in Aberdeen; acknowledges that this is the first time that the event has been held in Aberdeen since 1981; understands that more than 100 pipe bands and 25 drum majors from all over Scotland, the UK, and even as far as Australia, took part in the competition, with an estimated 3,000 pipers participating; congratulates the nine pipe bands and three drum majors who finished first place in their individual categories, as well as all the others who placed highly; thanks the Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association, Aberdeen City Council, Aberdeen Inspired and main sponsor, Balmoral, for bringing this event to the city, where it was attended by thousands of spectators in the glorious sunshine, and wishes them every success when the event returns to Aberdeen in 2024.
