The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Graeme Johnston of Arran Youth Foundations (AYF) on being named Scotland’s Youth Worker of the Year 2023, recognising his unwavering commitment and exceptional contributions to the young people of Arran; is aware that, in 12 years as a youth worker, Graeme has transformed AYF from a poorly attended youth work project into an award-winning organisation offering free sessions seven days a week to support young people on the island and their families; celebrates that AYF now engages with over 200 young people, from a school population of fewer than 230, helping to transform their lives, particularly due to the isolating nature of island life; understands that AYF addresses addiction, mental health issues and homelessness through fun and meaningful activities and assistance and advice from a dedicated support team, and wishes Graeme, his colleagues and the members of AYF all the best in their future endeavours.
