East Ayrshire Schools' Clean, Green Education Awards Accredited by EcoSchools

The motion

That the Parliament welcomes the news that EcoSchools has adopted the East Ayrshire Clean, Green Education Award model, which it understands is a world first for this accreditation; notes that the award model is designed to encourage action across the key themes of the climate change strategy, which are energy, transport, waste and natural environment, and recognise the journey towards achieving net zero; understands that the awards build on the Green Flag award, which recognises nurseries and schools that have demonstrated a commitment to the Eco-Schools Scotland programme and, over two years, have engaged their whole school community in local climate action; further understands that almost 80% of schools in the local authority area have engaged in the Green Flag initiative, and that 18 schools received their first Green Flag, and seven schools received their Green Flag renewal; commends East Ayrshire staff for their dedication to providing the best educational opportunities available to their students, and wishes them well as their programming develops.
