The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Paul Sheerin, of the Beatson Cancer Charity, on winning the Employee of the Year Award at the Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations (SCVO) 2023 Scottish Charity Awards; understands that Paul joined the Beatson Cancer Charity after his own personal journey with cancer, and has applied his compassion and determination to drive the growth of the charity’s Befriending Service; recognises Paul’s valuable contribution to the Beatson Cancer Charity’s aims of supporting people affected by cancer every step of the way, transforming the way cancer care is funded and delivered, providing services, and investing in a better future for cancer patients and their families; notes that, over the past decade, Paul has raised over £100,000 for the Beatson Cancer Charity, stating that "I fundraise for the Beatson Cancer Charity simply because the Beatson saved my life", and that he is hoping to raise a further £10,000 this year to mark 10 years cancer-free, and commends Paul for his fantastic fundraising efforts and for winning the Employee of the Year Award at the SCVO 2023 Scottish Charity Awards.
