The motion

That the Parliament celebrates the news that nine beaches across Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire have been recognised at Scotland’s Beach Awards 2023, which celebrates clean, well-managed and sustainable beaches; notes that the annual awards scheme, run by Keep Scotland Beautiful, serves as a national benchmark for local environmental quality measuring, and assesses each location on safe and accessible beach management and environmental best practices; considers that these north east beaches, specifically Aberdeen Ballroom Beach, Balmedie Beach, Collieston, Cruden Bay, Fraserburgh Tigerhill, Fraserburgh Waters of Philorth, Inverboyndie Beach, Peterhead Lido and Stonehaven Beach, are a valuable national asset, providing critical habitats for many species and the basis for activities including tourism, coastal recreation and fishing; commends the hard work of staff, volunteers and everyone else involved; congratulates them, and recognises that receiving such an award is a remarkable achievement.
