The motion

That the Parliament commends Andy’s Golden Fry in Paisley for raising £4,262 through a special £2 supper deal in order to raise funds for four-year-old Calum Rae’s potentially life-saving cancer treatment; notes that Calum Rae, from Troon, South Ayrshire, has high-risk neuroblastoma and that his parents are trying to raise £250,000 to send him to America for a drug trial; understands that Andy Speirs, from Andy’s Golden Fry, heard about Calum’s story through a friend and decided he wanted to organise a fundraiser to try and help out; further understands that Andy’s Golden Fry was completely out of food by 9.00 pm, having sold more than 1.2 tonnes of potatoes throughout the day, and that Andy had to turn customers away; notes that all staff members worked extremely hard to keep up with the demand that day, especially Andy’s 17-year-old son, who, it understands, donated half of his wages; notes that Andy, and all those at Andy’s Golden Fry, hopes that the money raised can go a long way in helping Calum Rae get the treatment he deserves, and wishes him a speedy recovery.
