The motion

That the Parliament welcomes the news that Glasgow’s First Bus fleet will soon have over 200 emission-free vehicles following the delivery of new electric buses in July 2023; notes that the first of 50 new electric vehicles will be seen out in service around the city from 3 July 2023 and understands that they are set to save over 3,000 tonnes of CO2e per year as they replace older diesel buses; notes that, to accommodate these new zero-emission arrivals to the fleet, there has been a year of significant works at its Scotstoun depot to install the necessary infrastructure and 27 dual-headed rapid charging points, which is now complete; understands that the 50 new electric vehicles, provided by the Larbert-based vehicle manufacturer, Alexander Dennis Ltd, are fitted with market-leading lithium iron phosphate batteries, boasting a range of over 370km on a single three-hour charge, and commends this investment as a step towards decarbonising the transport infrastructure and improving air quality in Glasgow.
