Saltire Society Announces Inaugural 40 Under 40 List
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates the Saltire Society, one of Scotland’s leading supporters of culture, on the announcement of its inaugural 40 Under 40 list; understands that nominees were judged by a panel of experts within the categories of Literature and Publishing, Applied Sciences, Languages, Performing Arts, and Visual Arts; further understands that the Saltire Society aims to bring greater recognition to those with outstanding talent in the early-to-mid stages of their career; notes that the 2023 list includes playwrights, singers, poets, climate activists, illustrators, print makers, actors, musicians and even a ground-breaking dentist; believes that the society, which was founded over 85 years ago, is an internationally significant charity committed to every part of Scottish life, from social housing and literature to public art and emerging creative, as well as being proponents of the Scots language; wishes all of the people on the 40 Under 40 list every success as they continue in their careers, and thanks the Saltire Society for all the important work that it does.
