Fundraiser in Memory of Alexander McCrae

Lodged by Clare Adamson (Scottish National Party) Standard Motion 14 supporters

The motion

That the Parliament commends the fundraising efforts of Alexander McCrae, from Cleland, who tragically died from a heart attack; understands that Alexander's family members walked and ran to and from Peggy White's petrol station in order to raise over £1,200 to install a defibrillation machine within the forecourt; further understands that every week in Scotland, around 70 people have a cardiac arrest at home, work or in a public place, and that starting CPR as soon as possible will give the person the best chance of survival, but that being able to use a defibrillator within the first few minutes of collapse increases that chance even further; sends its condolences to the family, and thanks them for installing the vital equipment that may save a life.
