National Schizophrenia Awareness Day 2023

The motion

That the Parliament acknowledges National Schizophrenia Awareness Day 2023, which takes place on 25 July and aims to raise awareness of schizophrenia, challenge stigma, and promote understanding of this mental health condition; understands that schizophrenia affects approximately one in 100 individuals worldwide, which highlights the importance of increasing awareness and understanding; recognises the impact that schizophrenia has on individuals, their families and communities, and what it sees as the need for improved support and resources for those affected; commends the efforts of organisations, healthcare professionals and individuals working to improve the lives of people with schizophrenia and promote mental health wellbeing, and pledges to support initiatives that aim to enhance awareness and understanding of, and support for, people with schizophrenia in Scotland.
