The Five Kingdoms Brewery Wins First Ever CAMRA Award

The motion

That the Parliament warmly congratulates the Five Kingdoms Brewery on winning the Mild category of the prestigious 2023 Scotland and Northern Ireland Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) Champion Beer Competition; notes that Isle of Whithorn brewery took the top title with its McGregors Mild; recognises that this is the first time that managing director, Alistair Scoular, and his team at the Galloway brewery have been recognised by CAMRA; understands that they hope to expand the business, thanks to the growth of its bottle, cans and cask ale products into new outlets in Dumfries and Galloway and Ayrshire; further understands that the business has received assistance from South of Scotland Enterprise and Scotland Food and Drink, as well as Heriot Watt University, in its drive to create a new brewery that will be carbon efficient and use renewable energy sources, and wishes Five Kingdoms continued success in the future, especially with its plans to create a new visitor centre and tap room to increase capacity and become a top attraction.
