Finlay Shand Named Young Gamekeeper of the Year

The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Finlay Shand, 22, on receiving the Young Gamekeeper of the Year Award 2023; understands that this award recognises individuals in the early stages of a career on land or river, who are adjudged to stand apart as ambassadors for gamekeeping, deer stalking or ghillieing; further understands that Mr Shand was commended for his passion, maturity and willingness to help educate others about the values of good stewardship of Scotland’s countryside; notes that Mr Shand’s clay shooting prowess was praised and that he will soon travel to Ireland to represent Scotland in the Down the Line shooting discipline at the European and British championships; commends Mr Shand on what it sees as his exceptional achievement at such a young age, and wishes him every success in his career for the future.
