Funding Successes for Concrete Garden

The motion

That the Parliament welcomes two significant funding awards for the Concrete Garden in the Maryhill and Springburn constituency; understands that £140,287 has been secured through the Scottish Land Fund, which will look to support the community purchase of two plots of derelict land in Possilpark; further understands that the ambition is to create a child-owned and child-led adventure playground on the derelict site and to redevelop the existing community garden to ensure that it is a vibrant community-led asset for generations to come; welcomes the £99,998 grant from the National Lottery Community Fund Young Start awards; believes that, over the three years, approximately 750 young people and 60 volunteers will be involved in the project, which will support its Volunteer Project, Outdoor Play Project and Growing Well - social and therapeutic gardening projects; recognises the funding secured from Glasgow City Council’s Communities Fund and Holiday Food fund, and thanks all involved in giving young people many opportunities to work, play, learn and grow together.
