Lanarkshire Pre-Operative Assessment Team Wins Award for Innovation and Improvement

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates NHS Lanarkshire's pan Lanarkshire pre-operative assessment team on winning an award for innovation and improvement; understands that the team, who won at NHS Lanarkshire's Staff Awards 2023, assesses and prepares patients for surgical procedures; further understands that its aim is to reduce the risk of surgery cancellations, reduce complications, reduce harm and ensure the best outcome for patients; understands that the team was the first pre-op team to introduce a brand new digital system in Scotland, allowing patients to answer questions on mobile devices, delivering information about the hospital, anaesthesia, recovery, medicine and fasting alerts, as well as a messaging system where patients can contact their nursing team; commends the innovation of the team, which, it believes, has greatly improved efficiency of surgical pathways at a time when waiting lists are growing due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
