David Carruth Wins Young People’s Award at Scotland’s Finest Woods Awards

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates David Carruth, site assistant at The Future Forest Company’s Brodoclea Farm in Dalry, on receiving the Young People’s Award at Scotland’s Finest Woods Awards; understands that David’s efforts in showing innovation in developing farm woodlands was recognised at the ceremony, as well as his exemplary use of both woodland and agricultural practice; is aware that Brodoclea’s reforestation project has been taking place over several years with the site now boasting areas of mature woodland, extending existing woodland habitat networks and enhancing biodiversity; highlights that Brodoclea is home to Mangalitza, woolly pigs, that graze and root, providing new places for tree seedlings to grow, creating pondlets where frogs breed and birds can feed and even provides hair for bird nests; acknowledges David’s dedication to ecologically restoring Brodoclea, and looks forward to seeing how the site develops in years to come.
