Pakistan Marks 77th Independence Day
The motion
That the Parliament marks the 77th Independence Day of the Republic of Pakistan on 14 August 2023; congratulates all those celebrating in the UK and in Pakistan; recognises what it sees as the considerable achievements of the Republic since its independence; notes the well-established relationship between Scotland and Pakistan; commends the ongoing work to maintain meaningful links between the two nations; understands that Pakistani diaspora in Scotland number over 80,000, and thanks them for making Scotland a more vibrant and culturally diverse place to live.
