Arran High School’s Mountain Bike Club Secures Scottish Government Funding for Cycling Hub
The motion
That the Parliament welcomes the completion of Arran High School’s new cycling hub in Dyemill Forest, Lamlash, following a £219,608 award from the Scottish Government’s sportscotland Cycling Facilities Fund; recognises that the dedicated pupils and teachers of Arran High School’s Mountain Biking Club worked hard to secure funding and the cooperation of Forestry and Land Scotland to allow the project to take place; understands that Arran High School’s Mountain Bike Club began in October 2014 to provide a unique mountain biking opportunity to young people and to encourage them to choose cycling as a sustainable form of transport; further understands that the young people regularly volunteer within the community, delivering free bicycle workshops to the seven feeder primary schools on the island, and maintaining the bike trails; encourages residents of Arran to make use of the community facility, and looks forward to seeing the Mountain Bike Club making the most of the exciting new trail.
