Michael Kam, Police Scotland Community Advisor
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Michael Kam on his appointment as a Police Scotland community advisor; understands that community advisors are independent individuals who, through their background, work or life experience, have knowledge of a particular community or group and the issues that affect them; acknowledges Michael’s extensive work with Chinese communities across north Glasgow over many years; believes that he will use his own lived experience and extensive work within Glasgow’s Chinese community to excellent use in working as a Police Scotland community advisor; further believes that community advisors, who are volunteers and are not employees of Police Scotland, can provide important advice relevant to their area of knowledge and play a strategic role in ensuring that Scotland’s police force is as diverse and culturally sensitive as possible, and wishes Michael every success in his new role supporting Police Scotland.
