Vision Taekwondo Storms the British Open

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Vision Taekwondo, a Wishaw-based martial arts club, on winning five medals at the British Open; understands that Vision Taekwondo competed at the National Cycling Centre in Manchester alongside 60 clubs from across 20 countries, with gold for Siobhan Coe in the junior female under 49kg and Ava Bett in the junior female under 59kg, silver for Sophia Bett in the cadet female under 44kg category and Jordan Horswell in the junior male under 48kg, and bronze for Kaila Sloan in the junior female under 59kg, and the club coming seventh overall; further understands that taekwondo is one the most systematic and scientific Korean traditional martial arts, which teaches more than physical fighting skills; believes that it is a discipline that shows ways of enhancing the spirit and life through training the body and mind; considers that the club's success will now inspire many across Wishaw and Motherwell to take up the sport, and wishes Vision continued success in the future as it looks to build on what it sees as this incredible achievement.
