Lodged by Clare Adamson (Scottish National Party) Standard Motion 11 supporters

The motion

That the Parliament commends Shelter Scotland for hosting a preloved clinic within its Motherwell store; understands that designers Conor Blessing and Ros Williams, who previously worked with Shelter Scotland at the Scotland Re:Design Scottish Fashion Festival, will be sharing their tips and tricks on charity shopping, helping shoppers upcycle and alter their clothes to revamp them; further understands that the profits from Shelter Scotland stores helps provide support to the what it sees as the organisation's essential work to defend the right to a safe home; understands that the total CO2 footprint of clothing in the UK in 2016 was 26.2 million tonnes, with 921,000 tonnes of textiles ending up in household residual waste in 2017, but that by doubling the life of clothes, greenhouse gas emissions can be lowered by 44%; thanks the staff and volunteers at Shelter Scotland for their dedication and commitment, and wishes Connor and Ros all the best for the future.
