NHS Grampian Named Prestigious European Fellowship Training Centre for Stone and Prostate Cancer Robotic Surgery
The motion
That the Parliament welcomes the announcement that NHS Grampian has become an internationally-recognised centre of excellence for training; understands that the NHS board’s urology department has achieved the status, which will attract top surgical trainees from across Europe wishing to learn about stone and prostate cancer robotic surgery; recognises that NHS Grampian’s urology department was the first centre in Scotland to set up robotic-assisted surgery, with support from the UCAN and NHS Grampian charities, and that this latest development fulfils a key objective of establishing a fellowship training programme; notes that NHS Grampian appointed its first robotic surgical fellow in 2016, and will now have its fifth; commends the hard work of the fellows, medical staff and trainee surgeons at the urology department, and across the wider NHS Grampian, and passes on its best wishes for continued success in the future.
