Wishaw's Intergenerationals Share Skills and Friendships

The motion

That the Parliament recognises the intergenerational gardening project that involves Thornlie Primary School and the retired Drummond Drive residents in Wishaw; understands that the residents and the pupils cultivated seeds and planted colourful plants and flowers within the courtyard gardens; further understands that the project was coordinated by the Thornlie Primary School teacher, Deborah Kirkland, and Tom Muir, a Drummond Drive resident, with the residents and pupils meeting up on one day each week to forge relationships and friendships; believes that intergenerational relationships provide both older and younger people with an opportunity to learn new skills and discover a new sense of purpose, and thanks everyone involved in the project all the best for the future.
