New Arts and Culture Festival in Glasgow

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Seahorse Creative Arts and Publishing for staging a Summer Festival, the first of its kind from the organisation, which celebrates diversity and art from around Scotland; understands that the aim of the charity is to spread participation and engage with those who may not have the confidence or feel excluded from cultural pursuits to become involved in the arts; acknowledges that the summer festival is an extension of the work that Seahorse Creative Arts and Publishing does; notes that, for two days, attendees will be treated to a jam-packed schedule of free music, dance, readings, workshops and exhibitions, taking place on 26-27 August 2023; understands that the first day will be held at the National Piping Centre on McPhater Street, featuring a range of musical performances, flamenco dancers and a series of guest writers showcasing a variety of readings, and that the second day will be held at the Scottish Youth Theatre on Brunswick Street, offering a range of free workshops, including flamenco dance lessons, creative writing and poetry workshops, music lessons and photography workshops, among others, and understands that the charity hopes that the two days will inspire individuals to explore their creative potential even further.
