Uddingston Strathclyde Pipe Band Reaches World Championships Final

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Uddingston Strathclyde Pipe Band on reaching the final of the Pipe Band World Championships in Glasgow on 19 August 2023; understands that the grade four pipe band group, which practises in the local Tannochside Olde Club venue, has competed in multiple championships in Scotland, Europe and worldwide, most recently winning at the Bute Highland Games; further understands that, in this competition, the drumming corps of the band went on to place first in its category for the second year in a row, bringing home another achievement for the local community; acknowledges that the band, which celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2022, will be continuing to compete in competitions across Scotland and further afield at grades two, three and four, and wishes everyone involved well for their future contests.
