The motion

That the Parliament congratulates all those participating in the Clydebuilt River Festival, which returns to the Riverside Museum on 2-3 September 2023; understands that the "Castle to Crane" race is Scotland’s biggest open water rowing race, where more than 80 boats race from the historic Dumbarton Castle to the iconic Finnieston Crane, and that teams from around the globe aim to be first at the finish line to win the Meridien Cup; further understands that, on day two, tenacious Glasgow teams will battle it out to become the Dragon Boat Racing Champions and aim to win the coveted Dragon Trophy, while those looking to dip their toes in water sports can try canoeing, kayaking or rowing; acknowledges that there will also be outdoor survival skills events, traditional crafts and creative pursuits, including music, food and craft markets; understands that the festival is expected to attract locals and those from further afield, and considers that the River Clyde has always played an important role in the history of Glasgow and that it is currently experiencing regeneration, and finding a new identity as a recreational, residential and business area.
