Motion · S6M-10242 · 27 Aug 2023
Cost of Displaying the Monarch's Portraits
The motion
That the Parliament condemns the UK Conservative administration for what it sees as its ludicrous plan to waste a reported £8 million on portraits of the monarch to be hung in public buildings; believes that these kinds of display are normally the reserve of totalitarian states; is of the strong opinion that this money would be better spent on supporting vulnerable people during the cost of living crisis, and calls on the UK Government to scrap this scheme.
