Celebrating 70 Years of the International Association for Community Development

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates the International Association for Community Development (IACD) on its 70 years as the global, multi-disciplinary network for professional community development practitioners; shares the IACD's commitment to promoting participative democracy, sustainable development, human rights, economic opportunity, equality and social justice, through the organisation, education and empowerment of people in their communities; notes that the IACD has hosted World Community Development Conferences in Scotland, in 2014, when it was held in Glasgow, and 2019, when it was held in Dundee, involving hundreds of international delegates; believes that the IACD, which has been based in Scotland for the last 25 years, together with the support provided to the association by the Scottish Government, is a positive, practical demonstration of Scotland's commitment to these values and methods; congratulates IACD on its 70th anniversary, and wishes it well for the future.
