The motion

That the Parliament congratulates the award-winning One City Trust for its dedication and hard work over the last 20 years; notes that the One City Trust, which is based in Edinburgh, was set up in 2003 to tackle inequality and exclusion within the city; understands that the Trust was set up in response to the One City report of the Lord Provost’s Commission on Social Exclusion, and that, in 2023, it celebrates 20 years of service; notes that, on 25 August 2023, a celebratory event, which was hosted by the Rt Hon Lord Provost of the City of Edinburgh and the President of the One City Trust, Councillor Robert Aldridge, was held at Edinburgh City Chambers; understands that during this event, a roundtable discussion took place, recognising the work of the Trust in the context of the two poverty commissions, which reported on Edinburgh; considers that inequality and exclusion still exist in Edinburgh, and across Scotland, highlighting, it believes, the continued importance of the One City Trust’s work; notes that the Trust has raised funds and provided £1.3 million in grants to 265 projects, and organisations across Edinburgh; understands that the City of Edinburgh Council has made a donation allowing a permanent endowment, which the Trust continues to build upon to carry out its valuable work; congratulates all members of the One City Trust, and thanks them for their services to the City of Edinburgh.
