Glasgow Doors Open Days Festival

The motion

That the Parliament welcomes the return of the Glasgow Doors Open Days Festival, which will run from 11 to 17 September 2023; recognises that this annual festival offers a free programme of more than 100 buildings open to the public and over 100 guided walks, talks and special events; believes that the festival is popular with Glaswegians and visitors alike, and is a unique opportunity to access many of Glasgow’s historical and architecturally significant buildings that are not otherwise open to the public; recognises that the Glasgow Doors Open Days festival is now in its 34th year, and that, in 2023, the festival is centred around the theme of "The Sensory City", inspired by Liz Lochhead’s poem, A Glasgow nonsense rhyme for Molly, a theme that encourages participants to explore the non-visual senses of touch, taste, sound and smell that affect our perception and experience of the city; notes that, for those unable to attend the festival in person, there are digital trails, films and resources available online; believes that Glasgow is a city with a rich architectural and cultural heritage with many hidden treasures, and commends all those who have worked to facilitate the festival.
