The motion

That the Parliament notes the announcement from the train drivers' union, ASLEF, that it now has 100 women in Scotland who are train drivers and members of the union; considers that this is not only a significant milestone in the union's history, but also marks a moment that signals progress in the rail industry; congratulates ASLEF members on their continued work in promoting equality and diversity in the rail industry; understands that ASLEF has now set an ambitious target to grow this figure to 500 women train drivers in Scotland, and believes that, central to achieving that goal, Scotland needs to ensure that there are safe spaces for women in the rail industry and a continued and relentless drive by the train operating companies to ensure that the railways are as diverse as they can be and to reflect society in a much more representative way.
