The motion

That the Parliament applauds the Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH) Scotland’s decision to establish the Marion Gibbs Award for Equality in Housing in recognition of Scottish Government civil servant, Marion Gibbs, who suddenly passed away nine months ago; understands that Marion dedicated her working life in housing to tackling homelessness and was respected, loved and admired by many across the sector for her knowledge and dedication; further understands that Marion’s partner, Lorna Gibbs, and her family are also helping to continue her legacy by establishing a support fund at the University of Stirling in Marion’s name to help struggling students who are studying housing and homelessness at post-graduate level; believes that these are fitting tributes to Marion, and hopes that these initiatives will inspire others to strive for equality, to tackle homelessness and to be more like Marion.
