The motion

That the Parliament congratulates pupils from Whiteinch, St Paul’s and Scotstoun primary schools who will be planting more than 2,000 native British bluebell bulbs at a single event; notes that the "carpet" of flowers will be created by children to brighten Victoria Park; understands that the planting will take place in the area around the park’s famous "Still Game bench", on 20 September 2023, at 9.30 am; acknowledges that the planting has been arranged by Victoria Park Community Trust, a community charity set up to foster grassroots involvement in the development of the park; recognises that, as well as creating a beautiful spectacle for park visitors in springtime, it will also contribute in a very practical way to the environmental education of local children; notes that the children and their teachers will be introduced to the Biodiversity Garden, which they are developing on adjacent ground, and understands that the event follows the successful crocus bulb planting in the early years of the park by previous generations of primary school children, and has been funded by the national charity work of Volunteering Matters Action Earth.
