Moira Anderson Foundation Wins Self Management in the Community Award 2023
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates the Moira Anderson Foundation’s Positive Steps project on winning the Self Management in the Community category within the Health and Social Care Alliance Scotland Self Management Awards 2023, which was determined by public vote; notes that the Moira Anderson Foundation is based in Airdrie and was founded in 2000 to support children and adults who have been affected by childhood sexual abuse; acknowledges that past experiences of abuse can lead to long-term health conditions; understands that the project offers support, including a 12-week self-management programme and peer support, to enable people to manage their own conditions and build the confidence to seek healthcare, and celebrates what it understands is the positive impact that the project has had on the individuals supported, as well as their families and friends.
