Opening of Thomas Maconochie Building at Kelso High School

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Kelso High School on the opening of the new Thomas Maconochie Building; understands that it is named after a former pupil of the school, who went on to have a successful business career; notes that the new building will provide a space for students to work on engineering and craft projects, and that it is a flexible space for staff and tutors to teach; recognises that Thomas Maconochie set up The Thomas Maconochie KHS (Kelso High School) Trust in 2003 to further the education of young people at the school, and that it has spent over £267,000 in the past 20 years supporting individuals and groups in an range of activities; notes that the building was opened by Steve Bryant, the Group Chairman and Managing Director of Scot JCB, who highlighted Maconochie’s inspirational career, and hopes that the building can inspire students at Kelso High School to achieve success in the fields of business and engineering.
