The motion

That the Parliament celebrates 40 years since Scottish detective drama, Taggart, first aired on television; understands that Taggart, produced in Glasgow’s STV Studios, first launched in 1983 and presented as a three-part drama over three weeks named Killer, with Mark McManus playing the lead role, DCI Jim Taggart; further understands that, on 19 September 2023, the show’s creator Glenn Chandler, producer Robert Love and cast members Blyth Duff, James MacPherson, Colin McCredie and John Michie reunited in Glasgow to reminisce about their time on the show; notes that 109 episodes of Taggart aired, including eight specials over 27 series, before its final episode in 2010; recognises that Taggart became a worldwide hit, with repeats still showing in 140 countries around the globe, and commends everyone involved in the fantastic production.
