Lodged by Alexander Burnett (Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party)

The motion
That the Parliament congratulates the River Dee Trust and Fishery Board for being shortlisted at the Nature of Scotland Awards for their One Million Trees campaign; further congratulates the Dee Catchment Project for also making it to the finals in the Landscape Restoration category; notes that the River Dee’s upper catchment is home to the threatened Atlantic salmon, which is a keystone species of the local ecosystem and relies on the trees for shade and water retention; commends all those involved in the campaign for being on track to reach the half-million planting milestone in 2024, with the aim to plant one million trees by 2035, which it sees as an incredible feat in protecting the biodiversity of the River Dee, and wishes them well in the finals of the Nature of Scotland Awards ceremony.
